What is Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium is an annual government grant provided to schools to support student development and academic success. Each school receives this additional funding based on specific criteria, including children who have qualified for free school meals at any point in the last six years. Financial support is also provided for children who are adopted, currently in local authority care, or from service families. While these funds benefit the entire school community through enhanced resources, they are primarily targeted to provide tailored academic and emotional support for eligible children. Ultimately, this funding ensures that every student receives the guidance needed to thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.
Eligibility is determined primarily through parental benefits that also entitle children to free school meals. However, if you receive certain benefits, the school can receive pupil premium funding as well. You must fill in all the details on the free school meal form for us to access this funding.
All pupils in YR-2 receive a free school meal under the universal infant free school meals policy (UIFSM).

PE and Sports Premium
Schools receive a PE and Sports Premium based on the number of children on roll (ends December 2026). This is allocated to improve PE and sport provision in schools, including through active outdoor play and learning. Schools are required to report on how this money is spent and the impact of the spending. Details of how we have spent this money at Wookey Primary School can be found below. A new report is published every year, this year in mid-September.
