Cross Country Running Success

Each year we take part in the Mendip Junior Cross Country League. Our runners competed in the first race of the season this week at Millfield Pre School. They did exceptionally well individually and as a team. We are very proud of them as some of them were competing for the first time! A big thank you to Mr Perrone and Susie Blunt for leading our running club and for encouraging so many children to take part. You can see how much the children enjoyed it in the picture below!

Change of INSET days

This is a reminder that we have made some changes to the timings of our INSET days for the 2023-24 academic year. We will now be having INSET days on June 27th and June 28th 2024. These dates will replace planned INSET days on May 3rd and June 3rd. A full list of INSET days for this academic year can be found on our website.

Health Guidance

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Professor Chris Whitty, and leading health professionals have written to schools, asking that we share NHS guidance with parents to remind you that children can attend school with minor coughs and colds, provided they do not have a fever. The guidance can be found by clicking this link: https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/is-my-child-too-ill-for-school/

Thank you Doreen!

Very sadly, we will be saying goodbye to Doreen Reed, after 17 years of service to Little Acorns, on Tuesday 31st October. I am sure you will join me in thanking Doreen for her dedication to the role and wishing her all the best for the future. Having worked at Wookey for such a long time, Doreen has touched the lives of a huge number of children, who have all benefited from her care and support. Her replacement will certainly have big shoes to fill!

Harvest

I very much enjoyed our lower school Harvest Celebration on Monday. It was lovely to see the children sharing the poems and songs they learned, particularly those children who have only been in school for a few weeks. If you are a parent in Oak or Rowan Classes and you haven't already looked, there are some lovely videos of the celebration on Seesaw.
